5 Reasons to Use a Travel Advisor

5 Reasons to Use a Travel Advisor

It may seem easy to just book a trip yourself, but a travel advisor can save you a world of trouble

Once upon a time, people could not book trips without the help of a travel agent or travel advisor. Many hotels and airlines did not deal directly with the public, and when they did, the process was too cumbersome to try doing alone. The advent of the Internet has made travel research and booking much easier, to the extent that many people are asking the question: “Why use a travel advisor?”

Reason 1 ~ It will save you time

Booking trips is time-consuming. You have to research airlines, scroll through endless hotel listings, figure out if you'll need a car, come up with an itinerary that will be enjoyable without being overwhelming, scour through government websites finding out if you need a visa, and do the math to calculate what combinations are within your budget. And that's before you've even started to book anything. Think of the hours you could be spending with your family, shopping for things to take with you, or training for whatever big adventure you're hoping to enjoy during your travels.

Reason 2 ~ No detail will be overlooked

Did you know that if you want to visit the Louvre, you cannot do so on a Tuesday? Or that some countries require your passport to be valid for 3 months after your planned departure while other countries require 6 months? Or that some locations have old cobblestone streets and sidewalks that are not wheelchair-friendly? There are a lot of details involved in trip planning, and the challenge is that you don't know what you don't know. A travel advisor is trained to know what questions to research and what details to look out for. Why not focus on what you want to pack while a travel advisor takes care of the crucial details?

Reason 3 ~ Your accessibility needs will be taken care of

Are you autistic and prone to getting overwhelmed at airports? A travel advisor will route you through airports that participate in the Sunflower Lanyard program. Do you have to travel with a service animal? A travel advisor will book you on an airline that will keep the seat beside you empty so your dog has more floor space to lie down in. Are you a wheelchair user? We'll make sure you are given assistance at the airport and during your layovers. Using a travel advisor who specializes in accessibility travel will make the process less overwhelming and more enjoyable for you.

Reason 4 ~ It might save you money

Many people are of the belief that the prices they can get online are the same prices they could get through a travel advisor or travel agent. However, we frequently see good deals coming across our desks that are only available when booked through a travel agency. You never know when one of those deals will line up perfectly with the trip you are hoping to take.

Reason 5 ~ You have someone to call if you need help

The best-laid plans can be tested to the limit by travel disruptions. If a hotel loses your booking or your airline cancels your flight home, you could find yourself scrambling to find someone who will help you. You can save yourself a lot of stress by having a travel advisor who is your go-to person to call if your travel plans go awry.
